Newbie and a question for the self employed
Hi guys

New to the fourm my names kyle im 26 from Kent been fitting kitchens for 8 years now for two different companies.

I am currently toying with the idea of being self employed. I have only ever worked on the cards but really love the idea of working for my self as I quiet often get offerd work but can do it due to my current employment :(. How are you subbies finding being self employed and doing this job ? Do you source all your work direct from customers or do some of you sub contract for companies / builders ?

Cheers  Cheers

welcome to the forum.

I'm also in Kent - well, I live in Ashford and my showroom is down in Rye.

No help on the self employed thing, as im on the design and sell end.

Welcome Kyle

There's a mixed bunch of us on here. Some design and sell, others design, sell and fit, others fit!

I do a combination of design, supply and fit, working direct for customers, but do get leads from a couple of builders.

It can be a challenge at the start as you establish yourself, but if you already have contacts and people asking for work, you've got a good start.

Couple of questions for you to consider: would you find it more rewarding being self employed, could you target the people you want to get work in, and have you done the maths to see if you can make it pay?

Good luck Kyle
