The guy I'm going into business with is a registered gas engineer and I also have a lot of good electrician contacts. what I would be looking for is maybe some good contacts for contracting work in the north east of England, also looking for some advice on some saws, we have most of the tools we need apart form a good table saw and miter saw, also what sort of blades to use etc, from what I remember during my apprenticeship we used triple chip saw blades for good finishes on MFC.

Any advice is welcome apart form advice to not bother starting up, so if anyone can help please feel free to post and link contacts and tool suppliers.
Thanks in advance Stefan.

I did this one before Xmas and the couple have just finished the finishing touches so I took these shots today. This was a kitchen where I was stuck on how to do the worktops so thanks to everyone on here who helped me out with advice on on this thread back in October

I'm really glad how it has turned out and it is one that I'm more than happy to have in my portfolio. The customer is really happy and said today that it wouldn't have looked as good if I hadn't added my input to make it work as the design and supply side was really poor from B&Q. I sent back £600 worth of stuff that wasn't necessary for the install though the B&Q computer thought it was! I also substituted the multitude of base end panels that they had supplied to go on the back of the island for one sheet of 2.8m x 2.0m white gloss MFC. I had to half it longways and then slide it through the front window on my own. I neally did my back in doing it as it was twitchy for days afterwards.
I've got to say the customer was one of the nicest guys I've ever met. Every night he would send me a txt saying how nice things looked and that I must have worked hard. He's only early 20's and works in web design so I think I may be going against everything I've said about the web and getting a site together.

The floor is going to be skimmed and kardean put down. most ppl that have seen the kitchen or pictures of it aren't too keen on the doors and think they're too dark but me and the customer love them. First time for the new white duropal top (can't think of the name at the moment) and the joint turned out ok. Thought I'd taken a picture of it but I can't find it:Doh:

pics to follow as i am knackered at the moment and can't be bothered to go upstairs and get the phone lead :oggle:

my brother and i have been building a narrow boat for about 4 years now, basically we picked up a 30 year old rusty thing that needed a complete refurb. we went a bit further and have a completely new boat now from ground (water) up. a new underside was welded on 4 years ago and we did the top nearly 2 years ago. double glazed windows went in last summer and i fitted the kitchen last week. all the welding was done by us using a 3 phase Mig and a 3 phase generator, the top sections were welded while the boat was in the river. it was a bit scary hanging over the edge with the welding torch :ROFL30h:
the boat is in a river so a spirit level was out of the question (no boat level jokes please) so everything had to be measured. i made the units out of 18mm MDF, the cabinet doors were recycled from a kitchen i re-doored, these were only 4 years old. blum soft closers i had left over and some old Iroko worktops from a rip out were sanded down, oiled and buffed to perfection.
the piece from the sink cutout was even recycled and made my mother a nice chunky chopping board, treated with olive oil.
the neff hob was from another newish rip out and this was fitted in its own little section so that it can slide out 6" while in use, this is so the rear burners do not burn the sloped in walls.
we are now moving on to the bedroom so as said earlier, pics of the nearly done kitchen to follow along with some stages of the complete build.
it has been fun

my brother and i have been building a narrow boat for about 4 years now, basically we picked up a 30 year old rusty thing that needed a complete refurb. we went a bit further and have a completely new boat now from ground (water) up. a new underside was welded on 4 years ago and we did the top nearly 2 years ago. double glazed windows went in last summer and i fitted the kitchen last week. all the welding was done by us using a 3 phase Mig and a 3 phase generator, the top sections were welded while the boat was in the river. it was a bit scary hanging over the edge with the welding torch :ROFL30h:
the boat is in a river so a spirit level was out of the question (no boat level jokes please) so everything had to be measured. i made the units out of 18mm MDF, the cabinet doors were recycled from a kitchen i re-doored, these were only 4 years old. blum soft closers i had left over and some old Iroko worktops from a rip out were sanded down, oiled and buffed to perfection.
the piece from the sink cutout was even recycled and made my mother a nice chunky chopping board, treated with olive oil.
the neff hob was from another newish rip out and this was fitted in its own little section so that it can slide out 6" while in use, this is so the rear burners do not burn the sloped in walls.
we are now moving on to the bedroom so as said earlier, pics of the nearly done kitchen to follow along with some stages of the complete build.
it has been fun
